Interesting babbling technique - normal?

I've been worried about DS's babbling or lack of it due to a tongue tie. However he is now making bo bo do do and go go noises. Lovely. However these noises are very hard to distinguish as he won't open his mouth to make them. I have tried overstating the words to him, he either ignores me or just does it his own sweet way. Has anyone else had this and will he eventually 'get it'?

My ds made his babbling noises for ages with him mouth shut but now at 11 months hes saying mum, dad, nan, bum, bag, yeah and no fine

How old is he Flossam?

Tongue ties can be a problem but speech therapists these days say they are rarely of any consequence for speech development. It might just be his own sweet way.

Hi there, sorry, been nagged away! DS is 9.5 months now. He copies tongue clicking and replies when I make noises he can make like bo bo, but won't try anything else or open his mouth at all!

I'm a salt.
Sounds fine.
Don't worry.
Review the situation in 6 months.

mizmiz · 18/08/2005 21:56

The name changed about 16 years ago. We're very particular about the 'and language' bit!
