Licking!

My 2.5y DS has started licking me on the arm and also licking his finger and wiping it on me, the laptop etc.

I'm sure he's doing it to get a reaction, but I'm not sure how to get him to stop. It's really gross and is getting on my nerves. I'm worried he'll start doing to other people/children soon.

We've just had a baby (5 weeks) and DS currently has chicken pox, so is bored at home too. I'm also trying to stop the baby from getting it, but that's hard with him spreading saliva around the place (in any case, DS2 has probably caught it by now anyway).

All suggestions welcome. We generally haven't had any behavioural issues with him to date, so haven't been using the naughty step etc. It's hard to discipline him too as I'm bf DS2 so sitting on the sofa a lot unable to move.

I don't think it's a huge issue. He's only 2.5 and he'll grow out of it. I would just ignore it and certainly wouldn't discipline him over it.

Ha my DS has starteddoing this too! He goes to Nursery 3 days a week and I'm convinced its something he's picked up from there.

To be honest it made me chuckle when he did it. I understand your concerns but IMO you should just ignore it, it'll stop soon just like all the other little phases/habits they pick up.

ergh, my DS does this too (2.7) made the mistake of laughing the first few times he did it, now I'm getting mightily sick of it.

My 21 month old licks everything from the swings at the park to her shoes- I caught her licking my cat last week!!! oh well, at least she will have a good immune system (and possibly an alcohol problem as she goes mad if I use the blue windowlene on the windows- they end up dirtier than when I started)
