hello, my LO is 5 weeks old and was bf for the first week and a half then he went onto SMA gold he's a windy baby as it is and i was wondering if the SMA gold could have made it worse it's mostly bottom wind and has recently devolped VERY painful wind and colic, i went out and bought some apitmal today and he has has two bottles of that already and his colic has usualluy started by now and hasn't? Could the aptimal be working already?

Congrats on the new arrival! I don't know about how long different milk takes to have an impact but my DS didn't like SMA Gold and Aptimal is much better... he was 4.5 mo when he went onto formula but a lot of other mums all recommended apt over all other formula.... Also I found the cartons seemed thicker than preparing it yourself and my DS preferred it from powder. The bottom wind is pretty common I'm afraid and may stay but might not be as bad. Good luck xx

Another one who had DD1 on SMA Gold and she ws a very windy/colicky/sicky baby. It was AWFUL. As soon as we switched her to follow-on at 6mnths or whatever, she was fine.

We gave DD2 and DS what used to be Farleys (Now Heinz Nurture) and they were fab on it!

I wasnt the only mum at the time on SMA Gold to think it just wasnt suited to most babies, and couldnt understand why hospitals were dishing it out!

I think it depends on your baby. My son got constipated while on Aptamil, very very very sicky on Heinz Nurture, and SMA suited him just fine.

Yes, my DD sicked up lots on Aptamil, but is much better with the SMA Gold. I guess they are all different.
