My 3 years old DS is talking to himself especially when he is angry or upset. It's like saying things that he would expect us to say to him. I'll give an example; he has a pair of favorite trousers which he wants to wear all the time. He first tells me that he wants to wear that and continues with an upset tone of voice or sometimes tearful "A.... (his name), no, don't wear that, that's dirty, that's wet, we need to wash that tonight, you can wear it tomorrow". Another example; he asks for some chocolate first and then starts saying pessimistic things to himself "A...., we don't have chocolate, we run out of chocolates" or "A.... you should eat chocolate after the meal, not now". If I bring him chocolate he would continue with pessimistic talks "A.... this chocolate is melted, it is sour....". He can be quite creative with these talks especially when he wants milk in the middle of a night.
Has anybody had a similar experience?
