My 8mo ignores me!

I know this is silly but I read somewhere that at this age most babies respond to their names? DS never turns round when I say his name. I think his hearing is fine though as he turns to interesting noises, even if very very quiet.

Am I being daft?

They all develop differently. If you make a noise behind him and he turns then his hearing is probably fine, he is just taking his time!
It is no indication of intelligence just a bit laid back! If you are worried see your HV but I am sure he is fine

Very silly question for you, I'm sure, but do you ALWAYS refer to him by name? I used to worry that DD didn't respond to her name, but then I listened to myself talking to her - I'd call her 'beautiful', 'poppet', 'sweetie', etc. Very seldom by name! I once called 'Beautiful' across the room when she didn't respond to her name and she turned round! I don't think she realised that her name was special.

She's now 14mo (11 months corrected due to prematurity) and responds to her name.
