Posted this afternoon in the potty forum and got no replies so hope ok to post here

DD is 25months and we have had a potty around for about 6 months, just to get used to it and she has always refused to even sit on it - asked on Saturday when changing her before nap if she wanted to sit on and said yes and did a wee.... amazed! After nap were just in the garden with paddling pool left her bare bumed to see waht she would do, straight away took herself to the potty and did a boo (gob smacked!), anyway after that had a couple of accidents but was very willing to sit on potty with a book etc and did a few wees (all initiated by me putting her on the potty though).

Then yesterday morning had 2 accidents but weeing on potty when put there (not everytime!), no wee in nappy at nap, then this afternoon wouldn't sit on potty as wanted to play in the garden, went out and had an accident, but then did bring herself to the potty twice to go, another accident in doors (when rob tried to put pants on her, then spent a lot of time sat on it playing and did a couple of wees. took herself to potty to do a poo after dinner then did a wee before putting nappy on for bed (didn't want it on, said wee on potty, no nappy).....

today had 3 big accidents this morning after sitting on potty, asking for a nappy on Although be putting her on potty every 15 mins and goes as soon as I put her there, so had 8 wees on potty, but not initiated by her?

what would you do? Hadn't planned to train yet at all, just took her lead... are we just getting luck that get her on the potty at the right time - every 15-20 mins seems an awful lot although drunk huge amounts this morning! Did then say to me when sat her on potty 'push wee wee out into potty', then did wee straight away.... after nap not so great, tiny wee straight after nap, then nothing for 1.5 hours, dh comes in and 2 accidents

sooo.... a few more days to see how we go? or cut our losses and try again in a few months?
thank for your advice!

Tbh I think if you persist with it now you will probably be mopping up accidents for quite some time! 25 months is really very young, there's no rush to get her out of nappies.

With DS1 we kept the potty in the bathroom from about 2yo and every night before his bath would ask if he wanted to wee in it, sometimes he did (big fanfare and applause) and sometimes he didn't but it got him used to the idea of it. He wasn't ready to train until 3.2 but got the idea pretty much straight away then.

In no hurry at all only continued as she was asking to! very happy to wait. Just very pleased with the taking herself to potty to poo, as know this is often tricky...
