DD and her knickers

She is 3.5 and puts her hand down her knickers quite often at the moment (like yesterday in the middle of the school fete while everyone was looking at the children!).
I have always tried to not differentiate parts of the body but this is getting a bit much.
So tonight I told her she could only do that in her room. Not sure if this is the right thing to say.

I take it it's quite common behaviour for toddlers?

Dd2 often plays with herself and that is what I tell her.

Will keep saying this then!

First of all, don't worry, it's very common behaviour. I've taught many, many children - both boys and girls who did this, and dd does it too.

We told dd that those parts of her body were her "private body". We said that it was fine if she wanted to touch them, but she needed to do it in her bedroom/in private.

I hated knickers when I was little and pulled them down at any opportunity. I got quite sneaky at waiting till the last minute before we went out to secretly whip them off without my mum noticing so I didnt have to go out with knickers on. They were so uncomformtable. I did grow out of it though but then when I started wearing bra's I hated them too. Although I never whipped it off in public, it was the first thing I did when I walked through the front door. Im fine with them now, but cant wear things like polo necks or anything that makes me feel restricted.

For some reason I read 'pulls down her knickers', sorry very tired. Please ignore me
