7 week old reassured by holding hands

In the last week or so my partner and I have discovered that our 7 and a half week old baby responds to having her hand held. If she's upset or unsettled it seemsto quiet her very effectively.
I'm surprised at this in such a young baby and
I'm just curious to know if anybody else has experienced this with their own baby?

My mum found this for us and it worked a treat. We used to lie our DD along our legs and get her to grasp one of our thumbs in each hand then close our hand over hers. It stopped her flailing around and settled her down quickly from about 6 weeks. After weeks of screaming in the evenings it was quite a revelation!

Oh dd loved it. She used to sit in her sling hanging onto your hands. It was lovely.

DS too.

AWWW!
My dd is 9 months old and still loves to hold my hand. It helps her to fall asleep, and calms her down when she is upset.

I remember holding my 2 day old child's hand all night as they were next to me in their moses basket. It's one of my most precious, most wonderful memories
