Hi ,as title says really. My 7 month old DD is refusing to take any breast milk (gone from 4 feeds a day to none yesterday) and is not keen on water in a tommee tippy/doidy/cup etc.
Am worried that she may get dehydrated in this hot weather. It took her 3 hrs to go to sleep last night and am sure that it wasn't just the heat, but thirst also.
(Daughter no 2, first child BF until 13months and was also not keen on cups/bottles, think I have done something wrong you know)!!!
Any ideas please guys? Ta x

Is she drinking now?
Teething and grumpy in the heat? They are daft, but not that daft. She won't badly dehydrate herself. Are you still offering breast?

Nothing wrong with formula you know
Babies can very easily became dehydrated, if she's not drinking water or expressed milk, try some formula - it's not milk of the devil you know..
If she's being weaned, chopped up watery fruit or smoothies could do the trick.

Nothing wrong with formula Rollmops, but isn't the problem the OP is having getting the fluid in her DD, regardless of what it is?

OP, my DS is 7 months and doing the same - I am offering water/juice from a doidy every half hour (don't think anything goes in but he has to practise), am offering a bottle (never used one, thinks its a toy, nothing really going in that way), and he's totally refusing boob. I'm expressing 4 times a day to keep supply up, and am syringing milk in 4 times a day. Yesterday he took 320ml via syringe - not enough but better than nothing. Hope your DD is drinking again soon.

sounds like a nursing strike perhaps? maybe she is teething, i would try offering her expressed formula and continue offering the breast, will she feed when sleepy or maybe in the bath?

maybe worth taking her to dr to check she doesnt have a sore throat or ear infection that is stopping her from drinking as well?

Info on nursing strikes here.

You could try posting on the Breast & Bottlefeeding thread as there may be others (apart from those who've replied here ) with advice.

Thanks guys, managed to get her to latch on after her nap this morning, hooray! Took her into a different room which may have made a difference....
Read up on nursing strikes on kelliemom and think I may have caused it as screamed when she bit me a couple of days ago, whoops! She could also be teething, who knows!!
Am going to persist trying the doidy cup and tommee tippee as she has to learn!
Rollmop - not got a prob with formula (although none in house), prob is getting her to drink from anything but me!
Suppose she could also be self weaning a bit as filled up on food - she has a v good appetite! My milk supply has defo dropped recently.
Thanks for advice, you do worry in the heat don't you
fingers crossed for afternoon feed xx

My 8 month old has been the same for the last few days, refusing food and especially fluid. I think it's probably her teeth, and today I had some success by giving her milk and water that had been in the fridge - the cold seemed to sooth her gums, and she's taken much more fluid today than the last few days. Although, i'm still having trouble convincing her to eat, at least she's getting milk and water in.
