Im sure there is a thread with the same problem but havent got time to look through 500 pages. We put our son nearly 3 into a bed in march but the last month he is terrible going to bed, gets up comes downstairs you end up taking him back up at least 6 times until you really shout then he cries then he stays there but its very traumatic and stressful for both parites. He has days when he doesnt nap and days if he does i only give him 15mins but to be honest that doesnt appear to make any difference. He was very good going to bed before and has always had the same routine. Help me need advice

When DD first went into a bed she kept getting out and shouting for us to come up.

Keep to the same routine as you had before you moved him to a proper bed. Every time he gets out of bed, take him back without speaking to him or engaging him in any way. You might have to do this quite a few times (I did) but after a few weeks he should get used to being in a bed and only get out if he needs something. This worked for DD even though I felt mean for not speaking to her it worked much better than trying to convince her to stay in bed.
