My daughter is 2 1/2 and she won't go to sleep until 9 or after most nights only to wake at 5.30ish 6 the next morning. I've tried routine of bath and story time, quiet time but she won't sleep and gets up and runs out of her room once you leave her. She then proceeds to scream the house down for the next hour or so. we try leaving her and putting her back in her bedroom but once you leave her she gets up again and cries.
She then often wakes in the night and has a tantrum... crying, screaming, kicking her legs and will refuse to go back to sleep in her own bed. please anyone got some advice?

Try doing the bedtime routine half an hour earlier - might be that she's getting over tired and then finding it hard to settle.
Put a stairgate at her door so she can't leave her room and tell her she can't come into your room until the alarm clock goes off (set it for 6/6:30 then increase to 7 etc).
If she wakes in the night, put her back into bed, then sit near her bed but facing away from her; she'll know you're there but will hopefully settle. Hope this helps a bit.

Also - don't let her back down after the bath for her story. Keep her upstairs.

Does she still have an afternoon nap? if so, drop it and, as lucie suggests, try bedtime earlier.
