3 yr old ds squealing and screaming when excited or just for the hell of it!

As soon as dh comes home, the squealing from ds starts. He is just 3 and very easily excited and just screams so loudly. Always seems over stimulated and on the brink of exploding when he's in the slightest bit happy. Jumping about, running and throwing himself on the sofa.

I really don't deal well with the noise and constand screetching but if I tell him off it seems so unfair and then he sulks. He is just happy, not doing it for attention or anything. Is it normal and how do I handle this?

Sounds normal. My two (3 and 18 months) do this together. It is very loud but very cute, I think. It's nice to see them happy together, rather than whining.

Oh I agree it' lovely that he's so happy, but it's over every little thing, just charging about squealing at the top of his voice. He is lovely, not a tantrummer or a whinger (more of a sulker though!) so I know I am lucky.

Guess I just wanted to see if it was typical behaviour really. I suppose I need to change my attitude towards it then! It just goes right through me and the noise is so loud it hurts my ears! I know it's not a massive problem but just wasn't sure how to deal with it. My friend's 3 yr old seems so quiet, he bounces around and is happy but just without the inccessant screaming! Ahh well... it's never good to compare them is it?!

Thanks
