Help - 3YO not listening

My three year old boy has been singled out at nursery as not listening and a short attention span. They have tried positive charts etc as we have and are now calling in the local authority early years team to create a strategy with us.
He will concentrate for hours when he's doing something he's interested in. He has good days and more challenging ones but he's mostly happy and bright at home.
They mentioned he doesn't look at them - but he does look at me and other adults I know.
Now I'm panicking about him being labelled. Anyone been through something similar? Should I be pleased he's getting help? Is he on the road to being statemented?

omg i read this thread title and laughed thinking that you weer just a parent over-reacting- because 3 year olds DON'T listen!!!

I can't really believe that all the other 3 year olds they look after have great attention spans and listen intently to all they have to say.... I think they're going a bit overboard

Thanks for your thread - i despair at my DD 3 who just does not listen to me... and relieved that i am not alone.

what do you mean by positive charts?? our nursery comment was cushioned in terms of next year we will try to encourage her to listen more... well yes I've been trying that for years!
