hi, Im very worried that my little son is refusing to drink formula milk.
I started weaning recently, few days ago, and since then he is refusing the milk and pushes the bottle out.. I tried cup and beaker, but he just doesnt want any.
What can I start giving him in term of food, considering he s just starting to be weaned. Im getting really worried about it. Im trying to get him some water and baby tea to keep his fluids up.
He has some milk in the morning, not loads, maybe 100mls and then dream feed at 10pm, again maybe 100mls
can anyone help please.. thank you

Are you giving solids before or after the milk feed? If before, then switch to after... Maybe he is just isn't hungry enough as he is too keen on solids?

Think milk is still important, and he's probably a bit young to be dropping it altogether if you can help it. In a few months, you can just give cheese/yoghurt as an alternative, but for now I would try to limit the solids to encourage the milk.

I offer him the milk before any solids, but he is not interested. Ive only started with baby rice and adding a bit of milk to it. he eats that. maybe I should try to chnage the milk, but he always had all of the mmilk 5 times a day before I started weaning.

If it's only been a few days, then maybe it's for a different reason - under the weather, teething? ie he may go back to normal in another couple of days. Or possibly needs a faster flow teat now he realises solids are there and quite easy to eat?

Erm... struggling here. Anyone else any ideas?

Just give it time, my dd refused the bottle for ages (over a month- I was at home and trying to get her to take the bottle for when I returned to work), and eventually we reached the point where I had to return to work, so couldn't bf and she had to take the bottle from my DH, she refused it and solids for a few days, but quickly realised that it was that or nothing.

As long as he's not underweight he should be ok to go a few days. It's just a case of breaking one habit to replace it with another one.

Just my 2p on the matter, but if concerned speak to your health visitor.
