At what age should dd be able to draw a face with eyes, nose and mouth?

completely depends - could be 2, 3,4 with a varying degree of skill.

My ds did it at 4, girls might be quicker - he's a bit of a scribbler abstract artist. Probably a little late. Why? How old is your dd?

at 3, ds drew a sqidgy circle with dots for eyes at the top of head, a dot nose under that followed by a huge grin mouth that went right up to the eyes. From then, as his fine motor skills developed, he's changed his style so now the eyes are circles and lower, the nose is like a charlie and lola type nose and the mouth shows emotion. At 5, he still draws a tummy button on whatever he's drawing, even a fish!

DS is 2.9 and has just started doing it now, rather roughly I might add but he tells me

it's a face, it's definitely round with 2 eyes, a nose and a squiggle for a mouth!

It does vary massively though, lots of the kids at ds' play group have been drawing them for

longer and some are much older and not doing it yet.
