Sudden bedwetting in my 4 year old - what to do?

Has anyone ever experienced this? My ds is 4 and has been dry at night for months and months and months - can't actually remember how long. We never trained him, just realised suddenly he;d been dry for weeks.

Put him bunk beds 2 weeks ago and suddenly he's started wetting the bed. dc2 is due in a couple of weeks - could it be a reaction to that?

Or is it just one of those things that we just need to go with the flow (as it were) on?

We're not making a big deal of it at all. He's not even waking up during the night with the wetness - which is really unusual for him.

do we just need to buy more waterproof matress protectors and hope for the best?

Any tips gratefully received!

Give him the best chance possible of a dry night by no drinks in the hour before bedtime & a toilet visit just before he goes to bed. Bedmats a sensible precaution.

Hi
I went throught something similar recently with my 4 yr old ds. Like yours he trained himself at night and had been dry for almost a year.
Completely out of the blue he started wetting about 3 times a week over a period of about 3/4 weeks. There were no changes in his routine at all. I brought him to the GP just to rule out any infection etc.
The test came back clear so I just went with it and made v little of it. It has suddenly stopped and he has been dry every night for about a month without me doing anything. I do watch his fluid intake about 1.5 hrs before bed though.
I think it is pretty common for small children to just go through a patch of wetting for no apparent reason!. I have a waterproof bedmat under the sheet and also a disposable one on top which usually used to catch it all...

Thanks for the replies! Just seemed so odd. But will take your advice and limit fluid intake and just ride it out. Must stock up on those disposable bed mats!
