When did your baby start teething?

My dd is 8 weeks and has some of the the signs, a google search seems to say that some babies do start at 2 months or even earlier. I'm not so convinced though, it can't be common.
So when did your baby start teething? Anybody have an early one? And how did you know?

First tooth appeared at 7.5mo but everyone said "ooh is he teething?" to my ds from about 3mo! Red cheeks, dribbling, hands in mouth all the time, funny smelling nappies....he was never really upset by it though, and I had no warning when the actual tooth appeared!

So don't necessarily expect teeth, it could be a while

My DS1 had 2 teeth by 12 weeks, was definately teething at 7 weeks (though this was rubbished by GP). Had red cheeks and was putting his fist in his mouth all the time to try to rub his gums.

Red cheeks, dribbling, runny nappies, crying in pain etc from @4.5 months, cut her first tooth last week, she's 12mo has had bumps in her gums which appeared and disappeared for the last 7 months. Tooth just appeared no warnings.

16 weeks for me. 2 teeth...and dribbling from about 12 weeks.

My DD got her first tooth at just under 3 months so very possible that your DD is teething.

My DS got his first tooth - a fang (incisor?) on halloween! When he was 9 months old. It was very odd. The matching one on the other side came through the next day. So I had my own mini dracula for a while!

So it is possible then. I hope it doesn't happen too quickly for the sake of my boobs.
Is it silly to take her to the doctors to check? I would like to rule out anything else...

My DD was showing all signs of teething at about three months. Drooling, red cheeks, whole fist in mouth, etc. This went on for weeks, but.... no teeth!

DD is now almost six months. Only yesterday morning did tooth number one appear, followed this morning by tooth number two! She has had no apparent irritation in cutting them!

All I can think is that the teeth have quite some moving to do before they cut through, and this movement was hurting her and causing symptoms at three to four months, but has not caused any discomfort on arrival. So it's very possible that your DD is teething now but will not have anything to show for it for a good number of weeks or even months yet. Hope she is feeling more herself soon

DS started showing the sypmtoms at 4-5 months (including an interesting train journey from Newcastle to Kings Cross) but didn't cut his first tooth until mothers day (about 8.5 months.

DD is now 16 weeks and people keep telling me either she is teething or asking whether she is on solids as she always has her hands in her mouth.

DS is also about to cut his back molars (will be 2 on Thurs) as we have the dribbling and some terrible nappies again.

DD1 8 wks and she was born 7 wks early.
DS 1 year.
Anything is normal

Yep, my son started dribbling at 16 weeks, pulling his ear, etc etc but no teeth until 7mos. We're nearly at 10mos and still only those two. GP and health visitor didn't think much of his teething symptoms at 16 wks either. So could be awhile!

Son had two teeth at 4.5 months old.

Poor sod now has 8 and he's 10.5 months old!

My LO is nearly 9wks and seems to be teething too - always has fist in her mouth and seems to be more upset than usual. When dummy or finger offered for comfort, actually pushes it to the side of her mouth and chews with her gums. Might be a long time until she cuts her first tooth, but her cousin also started teething at around the same age. Unfortunately, she's too little to hold any of the proper teethers yet, so I just have to let her use her fist - although another Mum has suggested letting her chew her bib or muslin to help with the discomfort.

My daughter started about 12 weeks and had two teeth at about 4 and a half months..
My son much later.

Apparently I myself had three teeth at three months!!

DS had all the signs of teething at 8 weeks (dribbling, red cheeks, stuffing anything and everything in mouth)too but he's 9 months now and still toothless!

DD2 had a tooth at ten days old.
Honest, HV/MW noted it down in the red book was so odd.
And, Lizzie glad I'm not the only one who had a Fang-Boy. DC3 had incisors for a long time before the normal teeth came through. Bit odd but we've got some hilarious photos though.

Well after all that she has stopped drooling and chewing her fist so maybe it was all in my mind. Will just have to wait and see.

Very early. Both of mine have had 2 teeth at 4 months. My wisdom teeth are coming through at the moment and it's given me a new empathy with them, teething sucks

My baby is 4 months old and he has his frist tooth. It was a bit of a shock really, it was not there at 9am but it was there by 11am. He has had loose poo for a few days and he has gone off his milk, only having small amounts.
He was 4 weeks early, which means he is really only 3 months. I do wonder if I had had him at full term would he have his teeth even earlier.
I think this is early, my first child was over 6 months before he had his frist tooth.
