No doubt about it I have made a rod for my own back so to speak. My 8 month old son will not sleep longer than 30 minutes day or night without needed comfort from the breast.

You would think i would know better with baby number 4. I think it has got this bad because dh works away alot and it was the easist thing at the time to do.

Please help I am shattered and tried everything. Even a dummy which he wont take.

Please please help. I think i am too tired to think straight.

I am off on the school run now but will check it later.

THANK YOU

Sure he's just doing it for comfort so have you tried giving him a comfort blanket/ teddy bear that smells of you? My ds went through a terrible phase at 8- 12 months of waking up every 45 minutes and crying til I cuddled him back to sleep, then wouldn't be put down, wouldn't even let me lie down with him, just wanted to sleep with his head on my shoulder while I sat up! Needless to say it couldn't have carried on so one night I lied him in his cot and gave him a t shirt that I had been wearing all day so it smelt of me (sounds gross!) but it worked, he grabbed it and snuggled it and as long as I stayed in the door way til he was just about asleep, he was ok. He gradually got so he woke up less and less and when he did wake up he would just reach out for the T shirt instead of crying for me. I eventually cut it in half from front to back so we had 2 identical ones incase anything happened to it! Rather ashamed to say, he's 2.10 now and he still sleeps with it!

I do sympathise with you, it's exhausting. You haven't made a rod for your own back, you've done what you and your baby needed. It will get better. x
