Food throwing.

19mth old, has always passed food to the dog or thrown it. Can now get 2m radius on thrown food. Happens at start, near end.

Absolutely driving me mad. We sit and eat with him, but nothing we do stops it and everyone on here says he's too young to disapline. What do I do, I've really lost my temper tonight, taking him to wedding tomorrow and feel there is no way he can stay for the meal, very welcome though he is.

Just to clarify- it's picking up the whole bowl and tossing it, flicking with spoon, emptying bowl on table then swiping it off with his hand etc etc. He refuses to let us feed him, has done from 12 mths. Was blw.

I think the best thing you can do, although it's horribly difficult, is not react and almost ignore. If he gets a big reaction from you when he does it, then chances are it's an attention thing. I would tell him "no" firmly and just pick up the bowl and clear up the mess whilst ignoring him. He will soon get bored if he thinks you're not bothered IMO.

DD started doing this at about 15mth for about 3 months - it passed and I have no idea what it was about, but it used to wind me up too!

Sorry not much help, but hopefully it is just a phase. I wouldn't worry about the wedding though - just put a little bit of food in front of him at a time

Ignoring is the only way isn't it
thing is we are renting, and the walls and floor are taking a battering. I like having family mealtimes but he may have to go back into the (tiny) kitchen until this stops.

Gah, I'm pg so have no patience. I think I will sit the other side of the table tomoorow and delegate to dh
