Sympathies, it's horrible when they get a cold when they're tiny.

We used to use saline drops to clear DD's nose, and also raise the head end of her cot with a couple of books so that she was slightly upright.

I usually put some Vick on a tissue and tuck it down the side of the cot so that the vapours help clear nose. You can use a rolled up
blanket to raise one end of the mattress slightly. Ifyou are BF I found this helps clear nose very effectively.

He will be miserable and clingy. It's hard work when they are I'll.

Do you have a humidifier? If not, it is a good investment.

Otherwise, run a hot bath and close the bathroom door. Let your DS breathe in the steamy air. Let him inhale the steam from rice/pasta/potatoes when you are cooking.

Definitely a humidifier!
My son is asthmatic, which flares up when he's ill.......the humidifier helps alieviate the symptoms. We also use some kind of vapour-decongestant.
Menthol crystals are good (you dissolve them in hot water and put them SAFELY in your childs room)-but check with your pharmacist-he may be too young ??
