My DS aged 3 and 3 months seems to have a personality transformation in shops. Everywhere else he is mostly good but as soon as he sees a shop he goes wild, charging everywhere and picking all up off shelves, hiding behind pillars etc... i have to tie him to the trolley to make him stay near me. Any suggestions? Have to take him with me as there is no one else to look after him.

Ah... I remember this well.

I found that bribary was the only way to control it. If DS1 was 'lovely' all the way around town, we would go to the 'lollipop shop'(Thorntons) before we came home.

With DS2 and DD, I allocate them 50p at the start of the trip. Every time I have to tell them about their behaviour, I take off 5p. It becomes a competition to see who can be the most well behaved .

DS (3 in July) gets told beforehand that if he is going to be bold the he will be strapped into the buggy.

On most days he is fine, on the days he is not he gets strapped into the buggy and ignored.

Be being good, he knows that he has to stay near me and not touch anything.
