Toddler hit teacher at nursery

My 2.10 yr old has always been a hitter, but more recently this has become less and less towards other children. However, he does hit me and his dad when he gets really cross(in which he gets time out every time). He is normally well behaved at nursery, but the other day he pushed another child and then pushed the nursery teacher and went to try to hit her. I am absolutely mortified. The nursery did not seem that worried, but I am! Is this behaviour completely at odds with his age group??

Any other advice on how to deal with this?

it is TOTALLY normal and just a frustrated little boy's way of trying to communicate becuase he doesn't have the language skills yet. he will grow out of it by the time he's 3 i would bet.
i'm sure the nursery have seen it a millio9n times before. so long as everyone reacts consistently he will get the message eventaully.
