Hey my little boy is 7 months old but is not able to sit unaided yet.
He can hold his head up and he sits straight on my lap but keels over to one side when i put him on the floor. He leans forward to reach his feet and just rolls. What age should babies be able to sit unaided any help appreciated.

IIRC my boy still couldn't sit up at 8 or 9 months. I wouldn't worry too much, (he walked at 12 months but only crawled for two weeks prior to that). But then, some don't walk till 18 months.

Some babies don't sit unaided until they are a year old. My son sat up unaided at 9 months and my dd was 4 months. Its nothing to do with parenting.

Can your lo sit up with support? You could ask your health visitor if you are concerned.

DD is 7 months and falls over if we let her sit unaided - but she did get her first tooth today so that makes up for it!

Thanks reallytired he can sit up with support but when i let go he just seems to have no balance but maybe i have got to let him develop at his own pace.

Aww lal123 her first tooth its so cute when they have he one my little un has 3 with another coming through already lol.

Thanks for all the advice guys will speak with the health visitor about any activities that might help him.

He'll get there when he's ready. And all the rolling around and reaching for his feet is all he needs, I'd say.

My DS didn't sit until about 9 months. He crawled at exactly the same time and I think he wasn't really interested in sitting, just in getting mobile if that makes sense.

One other thing, he had reflux, still does in fact, and I know that sitting, eg in bumbo, made him sick. So I also wonder if sitting was a bit uncomfortable.

Either way, I don't think you should worry.

Some babies are mobile before they can sit unsupported! My friends DD wasn't sitting by 8 months but was sitting, crawling and cruising by 9 months. My DD couldn't sit well until over 1 yr old as she has low muscle tone but even she sits fine now!

DD could stand before she could sit. She was over a year before she was sitting unaided.

Don't worry about it, he will sit up when he is ready.

And don't prop him up, it is not good for their backs to be sitting before they can do it themselves.
