Withdrawn behaviour and little lies

My DS1 who is nearly 7 has become really
quite withdrawn and chats to himself, walking
round in a dream world. We just moved to Australia
and I was worried he was stressed but he
claims not. He also fibs about lots of things
like toilet habits (he always insists he does not
need a wee or poo - and then sometimes
ends up bursting for both!). He will hide 'skiddy'
underpants too. This started well
before any talk of a move anywhere. As did his
fibbing about washing, teeth cleaning, getting out
of bed etc. I try not to punish and instead I
suggest he thinks before he starts. I have
always prompted him to be honest but it does
not work! Pls help.. i'm getting worried. H

IMO experience of having 2 boys they will often lie about washing hands, cleaning teeth etc - they really need to be supervised doing this until they are about 8.

No idea about the skiddy pants thing. Is he actually wiping his bottom properly?

Mmm - yes I guess he is given independence in doing
these tasks. I hadn't considered that really. But it is true. :-|
