my dd has been a terrible sleeper and has always ended up in my bed. she is 2.3 years old and i can count on one hand the amount of nights she has slept through at home. she stays at her nannas most fridays and always sleeps through there so i know it is just habbit. she is also still bf and i know that this is common in extended bf children.
the last 2 night she has slept in her own bed all night. she has been very pleased with her self in the morning telling me that she has been a good, big girl. the thing is i have not done anything differently. do you think she has just grown out of coming into our room or am i counting my chickens before they are hatched

ds started sleeping well about 6 weeks before we had dd, so about the same age - sleeping consistently through the night more often than not. He's still bf too.
Obviously DD's arrival messed things up somewhat, but I think we're there again, I'd say 5 nights a week he sleeps 8-5.20 without any wakings (most of the times he's in bed earlier but I can guarantee 8 iyswim)

and we dont do anything other than encouragement to sleep, bribery rewards when he's done it, plus the odd "it;s the middle of the night, go back to bed"
I stopped feeding him in the night when DD arrived, I think, or maybe just before, but again it was a gentle process, I didn't make a decision to do it, it just happened that he didn't need it - wanted water, a cuddle, someone to sit there while he fell asleep again.
