What sort of books do you read to your 18-month old?

Just curious as DS2 is not a big fan of books and doesn't really like having them read to him - he much prefers looking through them himself. I do read one book to him before bed as this is the only time he will sit and listen but these are still 'baby' type books such as 'That's not my....', Dear Zoo etc.

However, I clearly remember that DS1, at this age, would sit and listen to books for hours and would actively ask us to read to him - and he had progressed on to proper story books by the time he was 12 months old!!!

Tried any of the eric carle ones that are about animals - brown bear, polar bear etc as that got dd into his proper stories .
