help desperately needed and i'm not sure how to phrase this.

dd has started pushing her front bottom into the fastening clip on her car seat when she's fastened in. it seems to me fairly obvious why she is doing it but sometimes she does it so hard she cries as if she's hurt herself. Today she started doing it in the trolley at the supermarket. I am concerned that she will do some sort of damage to herself.

please somebody tell me their child has done something like this too and what did you do about it?

Had a previous child who did this from about 18months old, she also rocked on cushions/rug, the family were told to ignore it and it stopped by the age of 4.

Are you saying she is doing it for pleasure? If it hurt that much she would stop . I would just ignore, ignore, ignore, and it will pass.

Don't worry it is quite typical we are after all little animals and it feels nice.

I would discourage her from doing it with a light comment and then try and distract her with something.A song, game or toy.(you could put her in the main part of the trolly and change her car seat if you want to avoid the situation.

tried distracting it's not working.

i don't think changing the car seat would work as they are all the same with the central strap aren't they? have consider stitching a beanie to it to protect her.

Seriously, mum2oneloudbaby, the more you worry, the bigger an issue it will become. This will pass, and there will be issues like nose-picking in public, etc.

Could she not have a seat that uses an adult belt.My dc have ones like that.
