Will my 2 year old end up like the guy on Embarrassing Bodies?

I'm really worried after watching the guy on Embarrassing Bodies a few weeks ago. He was left with stumps instead of teeth after grinding so much. Didn't really pay much attention to the reasoning behind it. Wish i had as about a week ago DS2 started doing it.

Why would a 2 year old grind his teeth? I thought it was something to do with stress. DS is perfectly happy during the day and nothing stressful is happening in our lives.

Hopefuly there is someone out there who knows something about this. I don't want my baby to grind his beautiful teeth into ugly stumps and even more worried there is some deep rooted psyhcological (sp) reason that i am unaware of.

Both my boys did the teeth grinding thing for a couple of weeks. They were about 2 as well.

Think I threatened to take a toy away if they didn't stop (probably worst thing to do, but it worked!)

Thanks KWAF, forgot to say he's actually doing it in his sleep.

A lot of people do this in their sleep and need a nightgurad - MIL is having to have one, I do not think it is anything deep rooted - scuse the pun there! have you asked the dentist?

DS tried it when he was about 18 months - aaarrgh!! I hate it, soon put a stop to that, but easy as was in the day!

I grind my teeth apparently, really loudly so my parents used to say. I don't have any deep trauma and I was told I did it loads when I was travelling, probably the most chilled, fun time of my life!

I keep meaning to get a mouth guard sorted but the dentist hasn't been overly worried to date.
