Just had DS2 and he is SO different!! Much more smiley, laid back, contented.....everything everyone said a second child would be. Been quite shocked, he even looks quite different!
What's your experience of 2nd/3rd/4th child??

Yep, first was placid, quiet. Second is a nutter Seriously. I think perhaps the second is like that because you are different second time around.

Other way around for us!

1st: Very sociable, never sat happily on my lap once he could physically leg it, used to run off without looking back.

2nd: few smiles, quiet, still, cuddly.

3rd: noisy, but loved to cuddle

4th: like 2nd, but more smiley.

My first was text book, a wee routine star, very straightforward. Like you I thought 2nd would be more laid back, smiley etc but she was grumpy and fragile wee lamb (still is at nearly 4 haha!). She "needed" a dummy, found it harder to settle to sleep, wanted to nurse constantly and didn't much like lying on her back. Spent a lot of time in the sling from 4-6 months (though with hindsight I wouldn't have worried waiting till 6 months to wean as think some of it might have been hunger). 3rd baby slept A LOT for the first 4 months and has always been the sunniest, happiest and most sociable of the 3. All quite different though all broadly similar in terms of feeding/sleeping patterns.

Hugely different.

Ds1 nightmare baby, but very easy toddler.
Ds2 dream baby but turned into a monster at about 10 months.

Ds1 wary, sensitive, cautious, a bit shy with strangers. Resistant to new things.
Ds2 has the sensitivity of a brick. No fear at all. Into everything. Has no fear of strangers. Very physical.

Ds1 a real homebody.
Ds2 wants to go out all the time.

Mine very different too.

Ds- nightmare newborn, didn't sleep, very hungry, generally quite grumpy. However turned into a much easier older baby, slept well, ate everything, very loving but wary of strangers. Crawled and walked early, very hardwork as a toddler, was a climber, still is. Now he's 5 and the most gorgeous little boy.

Dd, text book baby, slept the clock round, happy when she didn't have colic. As an older baby slower to crawl but is the most smiley baby in the world and loves strangers talking to her. No where near as physical.

Congratulations btw x
