My DS who is three recently gave up his dummy, (swopped it for a cd player with micrphone which his friend had and he really wanted). The problem is he takes ages and ages to manage to get to sleep even when totally knackered. He is being really good generally and although asking for extra cuddles, drinks of water etc he is not upset he is just laid in bed wide awake and not knowing what to do with himself, for ages. He is becoming increasingly more tired during the day. Anyones who has experience of taking away a dummy for an older child who was very relient on it, how long till they fall asleep easily without it?

Could you settle him earlier to allow the longer settling time, maybe have a cd playing to help him.
