Just wondering when you bought your little one their first pillow and duvet.

When we moved him into a toddler bed, about 22 months old. He didn't use the pillow for the first couple of months, and we found we had to put him in thinner pyjamas as he got much warmer, but he loves his pillow/bed now

A pillow and duvet is said to be fine from 12 months too.

We bought a duvet at 13 months (a 4.5 tog) I wouldnt go any bigger at that age. He slept really well with it, so glad we did it.

We bought a pillow and duvet for DS's first birthday. The first night he used it was the first time he slept through!

We put a pillow in for DD when she was about 12 months as she had a cough at night and thought it would help.We gave her a duvet at 22 months (still in cot) as wanted her to get her used to it before we moved her into a bed as DC2 is due soon.So far all good and she seems to stay underneath the duvet.
Same as Furball, her duvet is 4.5 which is warm enough.

Thanks, my little girl is 10 months so I was thinking of a pillow for her first birthday. Might leave the duvet for later as she still sleeps in her bag.

Any recommendations for pillow or is just any standard pillow ok?

I got ours from Mothercare - OK it could be marketing hype. But it did seem thinner so less likely to crick his neck from being up to high

Aah yes, good thinking. So standard pillow probably not a good idea for a while. I'll go look at the ones at mothercare.

Hi, we got a great kids pillow and duvet set in ikea. The wee duvet was cot bed size and the pillow was quite thin. We bought it for our son when he was almost 2 to get used to them before he got his big bed.

Irons · 28/04/2010 21:01

Blimey, funny you say that, I was just having a look on the Ikea website.

I might take a drive there as I've not been to Ikea for ages!

Argos value brand pillows are good too, they're quite flat and machine washable (which is a bonus if your child decides to throw up on it in the night...!)

Thank you, will take a look

I have just got a set from Amazon which included the quilt, pillow and covers, all cot bed size, for just over £20! And it was George from Peppa Pig. They have loads of different ones.

DS is 2.3 and has had sleeping bags from 6 months. Will he use the lovely new quilt and pillow, with George on who he loves? Will he bollocks. Much prefers a yellow fleece blanket. Was suppose to be preparing him for the sides coming off his cot.
