somewhat trivial question about small feet and walking

curious, really. DD is 15 months, and just starting to stand alone, cruise, walk holding hands, behind a trolley etc. We're getting a few, 'isn't she walking yet?' comments (she's fine and will get there soon ) - just wondering though - she has miniscule very very small feet (maybe a size 2? don't know as haven't bought proper shoes yet - but bought 6-12 mo for indoors). Would this make it harder for her to balance? Or is it completely irrelevant? Common sense would suggest that it is harder to balance on smaller feet (she's a decent weight, 22-23lbs, not that tall). Any views? Anyone with an early walker with tiny feet?

My DD started cruising at 9 months and then walking solo from 13 months with size 2 feet - she still fitted the 6-12 month slipper things comfortably. She still has minute feet (just size 5 aged nearly 3) but it doesn't seem to be stopping her.

My DD walked at 9 months and had tiny feet. She's quite small generally though (5th centile or so for weight and 25th for height).

so no then

Sorry, DD walked at 10mths and still (9mths later) hasn't got feet big enough for the proper walking shoes...

I can see your logic though

DD walked at 10 months and cruised confidently well before that. Her first shoes, at 10m, were a size 2.

Mine were late walkers (18 months plus) with very small feet and very large heads. I always thought it must make balancing difficult.......

I walked at a year old with diddy feet, so diddy that i started school aged 4 with size 4 feet

well she took 2 steps today! not her tiny feet then, some other characteristic...

lion blimey, size 4 , aged 4 - and are your feet still tiny?

Yep - another small footed one here. DD walked on her own the week before her first birthday. Her first shoes were size 2 and we had to wait a couple of months before we got them. She's now 19.5 months and a size 3 (still fitting her shoes that we got before Christmas and wearing them out).

When she first started walking on her own she couldn't balance to stand still for the first few weeks so she either walked from one piece of furniture to the next or she did this sort of hopping from one foot to another hovering thing to stay in the same place.
