Children Mixing

My DD's nursery teacher has had a quiet word to say that she is refusing to play/mix with the other children. She is great in adult company but has no interest making friends her own age. How would you suggest that I help? We have had a couple of friends round for tea but both of those girls are moving off to school in September so have moved up a group. I don't know any of the other parents and find it hard make friends myself which probably doesn't help!

How old is your dd? She might just be very self-sufficient! Does her lack of friends/socialising seem to bother her at all?

she is 3 1/2 and no it doesn't seem to bother her at all

Then she might just be one of those children who's entirely happy with her own company! If she was getting distressed by her failure to make friends, or was having problems because she didn't understand how to 'work with' other people (ie sharing, co-operating etc) then it might be different. She may never be that fussed about having lots of friends!
