I carry my 18-month old everywhere using an ergo or a woven wrap. I went through a phase at aroun 12-14 months where I thought I'd have to cave in and get a pram but she's very calm in the wraps/slings now. Plus she's walked since a year and walks alot now (or even uses a scooter)

It helps she's on the small side though. I've no idea how much she weighs, something like 10-11 kg?

No backache probs here, but do get backache from the marathon feeding in bed through the night sessions.

Blimey, just seen Amanda! Yes, talk about perspective.
