11 Month Old Not Bearing Weight On Legs

Hi

My 11 month old son is very floppy and flexible displays a certain level of hypermobility (over extension) of the joints which he has inherited from me and my mum. He sat unaided at 8 months, can roll around, taps his legs rhythmically on the floor but just won?t bear any weight on his legs. He still prefers to almost keep them in a foetal position all the time. When he?s in a door bouncer, baby walker, activity centre he prefers leaning forward to standing up. I?m not too concerned yet as both me and his father were late developers. I was just wondering when other babies who seemed similar to him started bearing weight/crawling/walking? Thanks!

my daughter was 17 months old when she walked and didnt crawl for long prior to this either. She 'never' rolled over as far as i can remember and if put on her front would squeak, moan and eventually cry until she was turned back. Her joints are hypermobile and her feet are still flat- she is 11 YEARS old in august.
otherwise all is normal. A baby that walks late is much easier to mamge as a toddler as they have a good level of understanding 'no'and taking care of stairs etc

my son is 12 mths and 2 weeks and he has just the past few days learnt to pull himself up and stand against furniture. My otehr children were all walking at 12 mths properly. He has only been crawling about 8 weeks too.

Hope that helps and dont be too worried i dont think.

Thanks! He has just started crawling properly (backwards only). Hopefully we'll get some standing up action too.

My daughter didn't bear weight at all on her legs at a year. If you dangled her towards the floor she wouldn't put her feet down and bear weight but just pointed her toes like she was trying to be a ballerina and stand en pointe!

She started bottom shuffling at 13 months and then walked at 20 so it all worked out in the end so do try not to worry She also didn't pull up and cruise until 15-16 months.
