Anxious about 3-year-old DD's weight.

Hi there,
My DD will be 3 in ten days.
She has always been on the 90th centile for both height and weight and since she is active and a reasonable eater, I have never been particularly concerned about it.

However, we weighed and measured her height yesterday and I am a little worried. She is just under 100cm, probably around 99 and a wee bit, but weighs 2 stone 10 pounds.

There is not much fat on here, but she is a broad child. I just wonder are there any other parents out there who are in a similar situation? Or shuld I see my HV?

Yes see your health visitor or GP for advice. It may just be her normal body shape but it is reasonable for you to seek a professional opinion.

What centiles does that place her on? Has her weight outstripped her height, and if so by how much?

My DD1 is fairly heavy-set but there's not a jot of fat on her. At 3 she weighed 2 stone 9 and was around 97cm. Now at 4.4 she is 106cm and weighs 2 stone 12. So in nearly a year and half she's only gained 4 pounds but grown nearly 10cm. I wouldn't worry. Your DD may be the same and start growing taller now without gaining much weight at all. Personally I wouldn't go to the GP or HV in case they've got a case of the nannystate-itus and start lecturing you/worrying you unduly. Your DD sounds fine to me.
