Bed time routine for siblings

Hi all, my DD1 is 4.4 and DD2 is 10 months. At what point did you start to put your children to bed together. I am thinking of putting my DDs in the same room soon but I don't know how on earth to do the bedtime routine? I don't know whether to put them to bed together or baby first or not. Don't they just wake each other up when they're in the same room trying to get to sleep? How do you do it? DD1 likes to sit up 'reading' for an hour after she goes to bed and has the light on - will she have to stop this when she's sharing with a baby do you think?
I didn't have any siblings near my age so I don't understand how sharing a room works!!!

All of our children share (DS & DD1, DT1 & DT2) - what works well for us is that the younger one goes to bed first (so story & milk, teeth, bed), then settle the older one.

They rarely wake each other up, DD1 has thrown up all over her bed, floor etc - you get the picture - we've gone in, turned on the light, stripped child/bed changed both etc and DS has not stirred)

So I imagine that having the light on wouldn't disturb your DD2 - though maybe you could reduce the time she can read - having 1/2 hour downstairs as special grown up sister time then 1/2 hour in her room - has the room got a dimmer switch, or could she have her own light over her bed?

The only issue we have with the kids sharing is that if one wakes early ie before 6.30- they wake up the other - not the babies though just the older two!

This works well for us - good luck with your two.

We've had 3.4 mth and 2.1 mth old sharing since his arrival. all ok here but probably because they don't know any different. Morning wake up is annoying as I know older one could sleep (and should!) more
