I thought of this thread today, though I should probably be adding to the Bad Mothers thread ... Put dd into car, closed doors, turned round to speak to friend for max 5mins, I think actually less. Got into car myself, of course it was very hot and stuffy, it's been a very hot day, and poor dd was bright red in the face with little beads of sweat standing out on her forehead. I feel suitably guilty and offer my experience as a warning to mums to open the windows or put aircon on when leaving tinies in the car for very short periods during this hot weather.

Did you see the recent case, when a 'mother' left her two kids - a baby and toddler - in the car while she went to get her hair done. Three hours later she returned and they were both dead - and covered in vomit.
I am absolutely haunted by this and it makes me feel even more convinced I did the right thing. When the children are alone and the parents are nowhere in sight, how can you tell how long they will be left for? As I said before, if the parent isn't around to see me standing waiting by the car, then looking in, trying to talk to the children and subsequently calling the police on my mobile, then they are too far away.

Wish I hadn't clicked on this thread, just thinking about those children now is really distressing me.
