Toddler panic attack if we put any film on

Hi there my son who is almost 2 loves watching films we freqently sit down all together and watch one of the pixar films, he names all the characters and really gets into it.
A couple of weeks ago we found out that our local vue cinema did kids showings at 90p a family member so we thought we would see if he would like it as a family experience.(BIG MISTAKE)we went to watch alvin and the chipmunks 2 and the volume was insanely loud my son was shaking and crying within 5 mins of the film starting so we took him out. The experience has obviously been remembered as the other day his key worker at nursery said they tried to watch a dvd and he got scared shaking and crying and wanted to be taken out of the room.

Just now we tried to put a dvd on of his favourite ever film (Cars) and he did the same he shook cried and wanted to get out of the house. He is fine watching tv and still enjoys watching In the Night garden with mummy and daddy before bed but he somehow knows the difference between TV and Film and is petrified of the latter.
Anyone got any ideas of what we can do I feel so awful that he is so scared.

just leave it for a while - he's 1, it won't kill him not to watch films for a month or even a year

personally I wouldn;t be happy with dvds at nursery anyway, but let them know that he needs an alternative activity for the moment.

Poor wee thing Leave films for a while, the cinema obviously scared him abit (DS would never get in the door of one and he is 4!). Maybe try turning a film on with him not there and have it just playing on the TV while you are doing something else so it's on in the background and see if that is OK? Not for a while though.
