Pulling Hair and stuff

My 1 year old has pulled my hair (really, really hard) since he was about 6 weeks old (I used to wave it in front of his face as it was so long it used to dangle down) and now its all broken off as he still does it.

Any advice as to how he can stop? He also is very strong and headbuts me all the time and slaps me all over!!

I would say a firm "no" and then quickly distract him with something else. He probably loves the reaction he gets, whether it's a yelp of pain or a laugh and he certainly won't realise he's hurting you. If possible don't react at all (not even a whimper) and prise his hands away.

I've got a nearly 10 mth old who does the hair pulling thing too. I want him to stop cos it's agony, but he usually ends up pulling my face down towards his using my hair so he can kiss me - awwwww - how can i tell him to stop that? He's just too darn cute - that's the biggest prob!

Baba - there's been recent talk about exactly this (I share your problem) ... hair pulling ; and hitting - similar tactics suggested
Baba, were you in the Toy Dolls ? Wow ! Much respect. I loved Nelly the elephant and your recent post has brought back some happy memories of my distant youth ! cheers for that, and good luck with the hair pulling
