can any one recommend any good phonic reading books for ds 5..

he's a non reader and doesn't seem to be enjoying the reading books he brings home from school.

Does he enjoy being read to? If so, I would just read TO him and forget the reading books from school. Tell the teacher he doesn't enjoy them - any good teacher would FAR rather you stopped for now, and concentrated on fostering a love of books in him. the reading WILL come in it's own time, a love of reading will NOT come if he is so bored by the whole idea and feels it's a chore.

I speak from long and bitter experience. My nearly 8 year old is a non reader too, though he's dyslexic.
