how long for the huggies pullups

DS (2.8) is now using huggies pullups at nursery's request who are toilet training him with support from me at home.
He is in pullups all the time now.
How long roughly will he be in pullups before toilet trained and move to pants........or is this a 'how long is piece of string' question?!
Only asking as pullups are so darn expensive and wondering how many to stock up on while they are on offer!!

'piece of string' but i never bothered with them, did the regular nappy up looser so it could go up and down and pants/bare during the day at home, yes mop and bucket where used frequently some days but it worked.

IMO pullups feel to much like a nappy and they forget to ask.

I never used them, took nappies off and put on pants. Both DD and DS at 2 years 2 months. We had a week of accidents with DS (DD got the hang right away), then dry, with occasional accidents for a couple of months.

IME pull ups not good for toilet training as they don't feel wet if they have an accident so it takes much longer to toilet train.

What MumNW said (except I don't have a DS).

I used pull ups for my ds2 but not for toilet training they are just like a nappy so completely absorbant and therefor do not teach the difference between wet and dry.

The way toilet training worked for me and both my boys was to have a 4+ day period where you are at home and put them in pants (have lots of spare clothes)with a potty in a handy and visable place. Lots of praise when they get it in the potty. After about 4/5 days you can then move the potty into the toilet and start encouraging them to use it there. However they are all different - my DS1 trained at 2.4 and after several attempts my DS2 trained at 3.1.
