DS is 2.6 and still if awake or rousing will kick the covers off if i pull them up over him. He will do this several times a night and is cold if i don't pull them back up.

when will he learn that its actually nice under the warm blankets/duvet?

their is only so many fleecy suits you can put them in.

I have no idea as I'm still waiting too! My DD1 is 25 months and still in a gro-bag because she just kicks a duvet straight off and then wakes up multiple times a night because she is cold. She's tall for her age so I had to search for ages to get gro-bags big enough! I think we'll wait until the weather warms up and just go cold turkey on the gro-bags in preparation for moving her into a bed in a few months time. I guess she'll eventually learn that duvet=warm!

DS was probably nearly 3 until he had a duvet. He started with the grobag on the bed and then some clever person on MN Suggested that I turn the long duvet round and put it over him widthways and tuck him in either side. He can then neither fall out nor kick the covers off and stays nice and snug in the bed all night. Maybe you could try that.

The first night of transition to the bed (but in grobag) we went in about 10pm to find he'd fallen out (it's a low cot bed so no worries) but hadn't even noticed bless 'im.

DD1 - who is 3.7 years - still kicks the duvet off! We tried everything but she just doesn't seem bothered. We sometimes cover her again only for her to kick off the covers again.

I am a pjs and duvet person - she has never worn anything other than knickers and a vest or pj top for bed since she could make her preference known! Maybe she just doesn't get cold whereas I am permanently goosebumped!

Now I just figure she will wake up and pull up the covers if she is cold - or else she likes being cold! I have stopped judging her comfort on my own preferences - and she sleeps great all night and has done since the age of 4 months (whereas I am an awful sleeper!)
