Toddler wails and whines all day long

My 19 month old wails and whines from the very minute he first wakes in the morning to the moment he falls asleep at night. It's a constant drone. He only stops when he has his mouth full of food (he's still eating OK, once we coax into the highchair) or when we pick him up and walk around the house with him, passing him whichever toy / household item he chooses.

It started about 3 months ago and has got gradually worse, until it's now almost constant. I have no idea if he is ill. He can't tell me if anything hurts. Or is this just toddler tantrums?

Any thoughts or experience would be gratefully received as I just can't listen to it much longer!

Just to say poor you! My dd moaned constantly from baby until aged 3 - it was very depressing for us! It stopped as her speech improved with age and as we managed to sort out her sleeping through the night. She was much better out and about, and has turned into a very active and independent child - so in hindsight I probably should have got her out more. Worth checking out with GP or health visitor though. Good luck!

my toddler does this if i stay in the house and dare not to give him my complete attention. Impossible to get any chores done but whining solved by taking him on adventures to the park/garden/soft play etc. He really needs lots of physical activity and structured sleep. Try getting out to more toddler groups? Very much sympathise as I'm also trying to deal with a newborn at the same time as my whining toddler!
