Ready to give up Potty training - help!

On day 5 of pt DD aged 2.6. She started off really well, asking to go etc but now just holds it in for as long as poss (6.5 hours is the pb so far!) and won't go anywhere near the potty or special Peppa loo seat thing.

Yesterday the only way I could eventually get her to go was to sit her on the potty in front of a YouTube clip of a waterfall!!!

Am I right in thinking that she's just not ready? We've got the reward chart, choc rewards, everything...

Advice pls...

I've got a DS 2.5 and have been wondering when to start. I reckon just stop it for a month or so and then try again rather than creating a fuss over it - might make things worse. Take the pressure off - both her and yourself. My friend has only just potty trained her DS at 3 years old, and he has taken to it really well. Apart from the continued expense of nappies, the older they are the more easily they take to it from what I can tell! Good luck, I'll be joining you soon!

If she doesn't want to do it then stop. It is a FAR more relaxed and easy process if you take your lead from them.

Yep, that's what I wanted to hear! I was trying to do it now because my 2nd baby is due in 2 months time, but she was getting really upset about it, which made me get upset too, I felt really horrible making her sit there when she didn't want to.

Will take it as a learning and revisit in the summer....
Thanks

Probably easier to do it once the new baby is here and settled anyway - nothing like sitting down to breastfeed a newborn and your toddler insisting that you need to get up to help them use the potty!!

Yeah - what's an extra 4 -5 nappies a day when I'll be doing 50 a day for the newborn eh?!

Sounds like she isn't ready to me.

Oh and don't be surprised if she isn't ready in the summer either - it's a myth, this 'easier in the summer' thing. My dd was ready in January, just before her 3rd birthday and it was a breeze because she decided herself.
