How important is staying on a percentile?

DS has gone from 75th to 25th in about 6wks - seems absolutely fine though.

Should I worry?

aye, worry a wee bit, they shouldn't really fall through centiles like that. how old is ds?

24wks, EBF. Born at 36+4. Started off around 25th, got up to 75th and stayed there for a bit, then down to 50th for a couple of weeks and now 25th again

i wouldn't be having a heart attack about it or anything if he seems fine, but it's worth mentioning to a doc or good hv just so they can keep an eye on it. sometimes falling through centiles can mean absorption problems, sometimes it can mean not much at all.

He does have reflux and is on Gaviscon, I wonder if that could bugger up absorption

My DD started on 25th, went up briefly to 50th, dipped down to 25th and then went down and stayed on 9th.

This was mainly because she crawled at 4mths old and never ever stopped bloody moving.

Having said that, she has always been skinny and is now a v active healthy 4 1/2 yr old who has to wear age 6 clothes.

I would say if your DC is happy and healthy in all other aspects, then don't worry.

all 3 of my children were wrong according to those books.dd and ds1 were very small and underweight although ds1 head was unnaturally large.so hv said i was starving them etc(she missed the obvious that i and my whole family are small and skinny).ds2 according to charts was huge,although a tiny baby,he aparently turned into the hulk.cue hv saying i overfed him..so you cant win.

you know if your dc is happy and healthy.if you have worries speak to gp or hv.
