not sitting up unaided at 6 months

My little one is 6 months old. She loves to roll over, does mini press ups when on her tummy, likes to stand and bear most of her weight when I am holding her and can sit up well with a little support. However if I sit her up and let go (plenty of cushioning around mind) she will only stay upright for moments. Is this normal? I thought at 6 months she would be able to sit unaided. Should I be concerned?

Yes it is normal, No you shouldn't be concerned.

6 month is still very little and she has plenty of time to learn all her new things.

Your Dd sounds like she's doing fantastically.

My ds sat up the day he turned 7 months with no signs of ever trying before.

my 6mo ds is exactly the same- nothing to worry about, they'll do things in their own time. All the books etc say 6 months for sitting up but that's just an average. Apparently plenty of tummy time is a good way of strengthening their back muscles.

I will stop worrying then and keep going with lots of tummy time!
