My dd has come back from school today in floods of tears because some of her friends have posted a letter in the school "worry" box about her being bossy. She doesn't know what she has done and is scared of being told off.

i spoke to the mum of the friend and she said that her daughter had been saying my dd had been bossy > i think this may have happened a few times as the other girl wanted her mum to tell the teacher.

Not sure what i should do to try and stop her being bossy/understand what it is she has been doing? Is this normal?

I have suggested she talk to her teacher and she has written her a letter saying she doesn't want to upset anyone and doesn't want to be bossy and asking her to help.

Is there something else I can do and how can I help her manage her behaviour?

Any help much appreciated.

It doesn't take much tweaking to turn potential bossiness into leadership skills. It sounds as though your dd is concerned by the suggestion, which is a good sign - perhaps try to work with her and her teacher to understand how she can get the results she wants (does she try to 'organise' people?) without it bothering them. I used to be called domineering at school, but now it makes me a head of management!

Thanks - having talked to her teacher she says my dd likes to organise everyone and can occasionally be abit domineering but overall thinks it is not a major problem - whcih is a big relief. DD has understood she needs to let other be boss and let her friend be mum during games of mum and dad!

Thanks for the reasuurance !

It sounds as though she's shaping up to be a leader of men! There are some good books about bossiness versus leadership, as I remember - might be worth checking amazon.
