This is one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions to an extent!

We took DS off bottles at a year old cos we couldn't be bothered with the hassle of cleaning them - but then he's always been very good at drinking milk from a sippee cup. If your DD won't drink milk from a cup then quite ok to keep her on for longer.

I know one mother who still had her dd on a bedtime bottle at 7, but I think that was probably a bit OTT!

I first introduced milk in a cup for ds at around 9 months. I only gave it for one feed and left the others in the bottle. Once he took it well from the cup I started swapping the other milk feeds into the cup but still did it one a time as they do tend to take less from the cup than from the bottle. He was off bottles by 10 1/2 months and took his milk from a sippy cup instead.

My dd's never had bottles - we overlapped breastfeeding with a Tommy Tippee and an open cup until I weaned her a couple of weeks ago. She's now 11 months and drinks from the TT fine and is pretty good with an open cup (though she does like upending it to see what happens!). I don't think there's a perfect age to take them off bottles but I think from the point of view of habit-breaking younger is easier than older, so I would definitely introduce a cup as soon as possible.

My dd is 21 months and still has her bedtime milk in the bottle. She drinks everything else from beaker or using a straw but doesn't want to drink milk this way

my dd is 24 months and also won't drink milk out of a beaker. She doesn't drink any milk during the day and still has it ina bottle before bed. I've decided I'll give her til 2.5 and then the bottle must go!!

ds1 had a bedtime bottle until he was 2.5

we tried to wean him off it but it resulted in several night time wakings as he was so upset his routine had been changed.

in the end we went on holiday and 'left the bottle on the plane'. by that point he was old enough to understand and young enough to believe us

2.5 and no end in sight for nightime bottles here. slack mummy for not insisting.
