Very early morning nap

DD is 10.5 months, and always wakes up early (like 5.30-6am), which I don't mind because I'm usually up then anyway. However, she then is knackered by about 9am and wants/needs a nap then if not sooner. Anyone else having this? Should I try to make her stay up longer so she's having more of a 'normal' mid-morning nap? I've tried leaving her in her cot when she wakes up but she never goes back to sleep. Her afternoon nap is 'normal' usually about 1.30/2pm.

My 13 month old is the same and it works quite well for me as i can have a bath/breakfast etc and get myself ready during the am nap.

She wakes about 530/6am and has a nap for about 45 mins at 9am (i have to wake her up from it) and a longer nap at 1.30ish (on a good day this could be 1.5 hrs - but more like an hour normally).

It sounds like it is working for you too - stick with it! I love having two breaks during the day.

My DD is the same age and does the same. Sometimes she will sleep for 2 hours in the morning and I never know whether i should wake her up after an hour or not.

That's a real relief to hear! The HV was very sceptical about it and said I ought to keep her up longer - very nice to hear that others are doing it too. Of course from this weekend they'll be waking up at 6.30/7 and going to bed at 10 because the clocks are going forward!
